1. Mathematics. One of the positive or negative numbers 1, 2, 3, etc., or zero
To put that in “math speak,” an integer is basically the set of all whole numbers and their opposites.

Opposites are numbers who have the same absolute value, or distance from zero on a number line. For instance…

…in this diagram, points B and E are opposites because they are 2.5 units away from zero. -2.5 is the opposite of 2.5.
